1) Tell me your name and your posi­tion at API.

Alejandro Rest­repo, South West Regional Sales Manager

2) What was your child­hood like?

I was born and grew up here in Southern Cali­fornia in the mid-90s. I also spent some time living in Columbia. I am an only child, but I grew up along­side my 3 cousins. We all enjoyed extreme sports like BMX, skate­boar­ding, dirt­bikes, etc.

3) Who were your heroes growing up? Who inspired you?

My mom always inspired me. My father was out of the picture at an early age, so it’s always been her and I toge­ther, and she’s always been more of a resi­lient-type person.

4) Where did you go to college? Was metro­logy your first career path, or did you change?

I went to the Univer­sity of La Verne. I graduated with a Bache­lors in Kine­sio­logy which is biology-based. Kine­sio­logy is more geared toward physical therapy, athletic trai­ning, more of body-based move­ments.

5) What did you do after college?

I pursued some of the Master’s programs while volun­tee­ring at diffe­rent clinics as well as working at a floo­ring store, a hard­wood lumber liqui­da­tors.

6) How did you come to be at API?

I had a friend in Mecha­nical Engi­nee­ring at Cal Poly, and he started show­ca­sing what appli­ca­tions he was seeing out in the field. Then, I connected with Veri­surf, and it just kind of took off. I started connec­ting with Eric here, and worked a little bit more with the API trackers, and then an oppor­tu­nity opened up and here I am. It’s a career that I truly love.

7) What are your roles and respon­si­bi­li­ties with API?

To help manage and grow the company out on the west coast, but also to help us grow rela­ti­ons­hips with our exis­ting and new custo­mers, to say they have support out here, they’re not on their own. I want to make sure that ever­yone who is using our products becomes successful.

8) What sets API apart from other metro­logy compa­nies in your mind?

The ability to be versa­tile. API is not necessa­rily a small company, but it’s also not a conglo­me­rate. They have that rela­ti­onship, and I’m able to converse with my manage­ment, my product engi­neers, my deve­lo­pers, etc. And I think that truly is what sets API apart from ever­yone else.

9) Where do you see yourself and API in the future? In 1 year? 5 years? 10 years?

I need to build rela­ti­ons­hips with our custo­mers. I want people to know they can call Alejandro. I want to reach out to all past, present, and future custo­mers and make sure ever­yone is successful.

10) What does “Nothing Beyond Measure” mean to you?

API can do it all for you. We have Services, so if you need help with a project, we can do that. We have the Product line, so if you need Arms or Trackers, we have the best. We’re a one-stop shop, we do it all.
